Shop for a Cause is Surfpet’s program that supports animal rescue charities by giving 5% of the value of your purchase to rescue groups and charities. We particularly look to support no-kill shelters and rescue groups for injured or disabled pets. We also support organizations that train service dogs and programs that match adult shelter pets with veterans.
If your charity would like to apply to the Shop for a Cause program, please contact us. Be sure to include a link to your website and a contact name.
To give through Shop for a Cause, simply visit the charity’s website and get the Coupon Code for your selected organization. When we receive an order with a Shop for a Cause coupon code, we will donate 5% of your order to the associated charity. This doesn’t cost you, the buyer, anything. It’s our way of giving back to the wonderful community of pet lovers that we are proud to serve with the best pet products available. We know that it can be hard to donate, so let us do it for you! All it will cost you is the time it takes to visit these charitable sites. Read the press release.
We are extremely proud that the inaugural charities in our program both serve not only adult rescue animals, but also our brave U.S. veterans. Pets for Vets and Pets for Patriots match adult shelter pets with veterans in need of a companion animal.
Pets for Patriots supports the adoption of adult shelter pets by U.S. veterans and service members. Their program eases the various stresses associated with military service through companion pet adoption, such as return from deployment, transition to civilian life and the depression, isolation and loneliness experienced by many veterans. Service members are eligible at any stage of their careers and from all branches of the U.S. military. “With each adoption we save two lives,” says founder Beth Zimmerman, “the pet that faces near-certain shelter death and the veteran who gains a new best friend.”
Pets for Vets is dedicated to providing a second chance to shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America’s veterans who can benefit from a companion animal. Once the perfect pet is selected, the animal lives for a time in the home of a trainer, learning basic obedience and other valuable behaviors. This may include becoming comfortable with a wheel chair or learning to assist the veteran with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).
